The Joy of Capturing Candid Moments: My Experience with Baby Hazel

January 3rd, 2026

Hey there, I'm the guy behind the camera lens, just sharing another slice of my life with you. Recently, I had a delightful encounter with a little charmer named Baby Hazel. Now, if you've ever tried to photograph a baby, you'll know that they can be unpredictable, to say the least. That's where my story begins.

Hazels, parents were giving her a good swing, not because they were trying to coax a smile or a pose out of her, but because she seemed to enjoy it so much. You see, my approach to photography is a bit different. I don't chase after the perfect photo; I chase after the genuine moments of joy and the raw emotions that come with them. So, there was Hazel, swinging away, making the wildest, most adorable faces.

Now, you might think, 'Two minutes of swinging, how many good photos could you possibly get?' Well, the answer is, not many. In fact, out of the whole swinging episode, I only got about two photos that I would classify as 'good.' But in those two photos, I captured Hazel's pure, unfiltered joy, and that's what makes them more than just ‘good’. They're real, they're candid, and they're full of life.

That's what I love about photography. It's not about the number of photos you take; it's about the moments you capture. And sometimes, those moments are as fleeting as a baby's giggle or a silly face. But when you do manage to capture them, they're priceless.

This is the philosophy I carry with me when I pick up my camera. It's not about staging the perfect shot; it's about capturing the beauty of the moment just as it is. And yes, sometimes that means only getting a couple of good shots out of hundreds. But those few shots? They're the ones that truly matter.

So remember, next time you're snapping away, don't worry if not every photo is perfect. Focus on capturing the real, the candid, and the fleeting. Because those are the moments that truly tell a story. And trust me, when you look back on those photos, you won't remember how many 'bad' ones you had to take to get that one perfect shot. You'll remember the story behind it, the emotions it captured, and the joy it brings you every time you look at it.

That’s all from my end today. Keep clicking, keep capturing, and keep cherishing those precious moments. After all, isn’t that what photography is all about?
